Disability Resources and Accommodations
If you need disability accommodations in order to better pursue your work in seminars, in your teaching, or while taking exams or dissertations, we hope you will speak with the DGS or Chair and let them know. We are committed to an inclusive and accessible environment for all of the bodyminds in CCR.Â
Documented Accommodations:
We encourage you to formally document your needs if possible. The ADA Coordinator and the Center for Disability Resources can help you brainstorm accommodations to fit your situation, document your needs, and inform the department of required accommodations:
- For accommodations related to teaching or other essential work positions, contact the ADA Coordinator's office in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion:Â ada@syr.edu or 315-443-6162. You can find more information on Accessibility Services here: https://diversity.syr.edu/educational-training-programming/accessibility-services/
- For accommodations related to your work as a student or candidate, contact Access Coordinators in the Center for Disability Resources (CDR). They offer drop-in office hours (which you can find here: https://disabilityresources.syr.edu) and you can find extensive information on support and processes here: https://disabilityresources.syr.edu/students/
Assistive Technology:
If you would benefit from using assistive technology, you may want to peruse the array of assistive technologies that ITS provides free to campus members:Â https://itsaccessibility.syr.edu/enterprise-solutions/ . Â These include screen readers, screen magnification software, reading and writing tools, alternative format converters, a visual interpreting service, and captions for pre-recorded video.
CCR Events:
If you need any accommodation at a CCR event, please let the DGS know. We provide CART or captioning for all program events, whether in person or remote, and are happy to work with you to meet other needs.
