Computer Cluster Reservation Policy and Procedure

Policy

  • Uses of the cluster which primarily involve one computer (i.e., screening movies, demonstration, presentation, etc.) only are no longer permitted.
  • Uses of the cluster for the exclusive purpose of acquiring and evaluating information (i.e., library database searches, web browsing, research, etc.) will not be a priority; teachers planning these sorts of activities are asked to first explore alternative options; if that exploration is unsuccessful, teachers are asked to limit the number of cluster reservations they make for this purpose to no more than two (2) per class, per semester.
  • There will be three (3) rounds of reservations (see procedure below).
  • A teacher may not reserve a cluster for times other than his or her scheduled classes without prior approval.
  • A teacher may not reserve a cluster for reasons other than to use the installed technologies.
  • The department reserves the right to occasionally move a reservation location or to cancel a reservation to accommodate special events, guest speakers, professional development activities, curricular priorities, etc.
  • The department reserves the right to make exceptions to these policies for specific courses that are designated as technology dependent (WRT302, WRT340, WRT425, WRT426, etc.).
