Blacking Out Hours in Your WCOnline Schedule

Note: You "Blackout Hours" by blacking out available hours, so if you've added hours, this process will be familiar.
1. Point your browser to https://syr.mywconline.com Tip: control-click/right click to open in a new window/tab | |
2. Log in using these credentials:

3. You will see “Face-to-Face (Fall 2023)”; if you do not see the calendar, click “Area Tools” (upper right) and select “View Calendar Display” If you want  one of the other schedules, click “Schedules” in the upper bar to access the other Fall 2023 schedules. | |
4. Return to "Area Tools" and select "Manage Blackout Times" | |
5. The weekly schedule for the Writing Center will display. Scroll to the day and time you want to blackout (make unavailable) in your schedule. Click on the available (white) time slot you want to make unavailable. | |
6. Information for that 30 minute slot is displayed. If you only want to blackout that 30 minute slot, click "Create Blackout." If you want to blackout a longer period, select the ending time pulldown (highlighted here) and select when you want the blackout to end; click "Create Blackout." If you want this blackout to repeat in subsequent weeks, select "Repeating Options" at the top of the window. Caution: DO NOT select the "Apply to all available staff..." box under any circumstances! Doing so will apply your blackout to the schedules of all other Consultants. | |
7. Repeating Options: Select the  "weeks (s)" option, the day or days for the repetition, and the end date for this repeating blackout. Click "Save Options" and then "Create Blackout" in the subsequent window. Caution: DO NOT select the "Apply to all available staff..." box under any circumstances! Doing so will apply your blackout to the schedules of all other Consultants.  Click "Exit Blackout Times" | |
8. Return to your schedule to verify that your changes are as you intended. | |
Note: The process for Removing a Blackout, thereby making a blacked out slot available for students to schedule, is as simple as selecting a blacked out slot (dark blue) and choosing either "Edit Blackout" or "Cancel Blackout"; for more detailed instructions, visit Adding Hours to Your WCOnline Schedule. | |
