How to add network printers on Macs
Adding on a personal computer (not school-owned)
If you are installing printers on a non-school owned PERSONAL computer, before going further, you will need to install the SU Azure VPN following these directions. Don't use this VPN on a school laptop or desktop.
- Once you have the VPN installed, before adding the printers, start the VPN app and sign in. When you are done adding the printers, disconnect the VPN.
- Every time you want to print, you'll need to first start the VPN, then send the print. When done printing, disconnect the VPN.
- Open System Preferences > Print & Scan
- Click the “+” sign > Add Printer or Scanner
- The “Add” window will appear. If you don't see an “Advanced” button on the toolbar (alongside the existing icons Default/IP/Windows), we will need to add it. Control+click on the toolbar area and choose “Customize Toolbar”.
- Drag the Advanced icon onto the toolbar and drop it. Click Done.
- Click Advanced and wait for it to stop searching.

How to release your print job
Send your print like normal.
After your job finishes spooling, release your print using the PaperCut web page using the following steps.
Open up a web browser and go to https://arch-print.syr.edu and login with your NetID credentials.
- After logging in, release your job from the Jobs Pending Release screen. You can select {print} or Release All.
- If you notice that your balance is not enough, don't release your prints. Instead, click Add Credit on the left. After you have added funds, return to the Jobs Pending Release screen and release your prints.
