24-Hour Crisis Services

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, seeking support for sexual assault or relationship violence, or needing medical consultation, you can receive free confidential services 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 315.443.8000.

TELLUS HEALTH

TELUS Health - Mental Health Support

SUDC has contracted with TELUS Health to provide access to mental health support services for students studying in DC. Newhouse and Maxwell students now have access to the THSS (TELUS Health Student Support) app, which you can download using the QR code below.

Once you download the app, which works on Apple, Google, and Android phones, you choose your school, Syracuse University, and then choose either Newhouse or Maxwell. Then, create an account.

You have 24/7 access to real-time support either immediately in an emergency or by setting up an appointment with a counselor. THSS is not just a crisis support line. You can get help with issues such as anxiety, stress, relationships with friends/family, and adapting to a new environment. There are links to SU campus services as well.

For in-person counseling, you can use your own health insurance. Check with your provider for a list of covered services in DC metro area and help locating a covered provider.

There is also a wealth of free hotlines for counseling that you can call for free 24 hours a day with 100% confidentiality.

Access HelpLine

The Access HelpLine at 1(888)7WE-HELP or 1-888-793-4357 is the easiest way to get connected to services provided by the Department of Behavioral Health and its certified behavioral health care providers. This 24-hour, seven-day-a-week telephone line is staffed by behavioral health professionals who can refer a caller to immediate help or ongoing care. The Access Helpline can activate mobile crisis teams to respond to adults and children who are experiencing a psychiatric or emotional crisis and are unable or unwilling to travel to receive behavioral health services.
