Students may attend the Writing Lab at any stage of their assignment progression. Students do not have to present a complete draft at the time of the appointment to receive help.
All students will receive one-on-one guidance, which is calibrated to suit their concerns and needs. Students are encouraged to print out their outline, structure, or draft to bring to the appointment. Students must bring a copy of the assignment prompt to the appointment, either in digital or print format.
To receive the greatest benefit, students should try to attend the Writing Lab well in advance of their assignment deadline. Please keep in mind that Writing Lab appointments are not designed for editing and proofreading. The goal of the Writing Lab is skill transference. The sessions aim to ensure that students have a better understanding of technical writing, structural and contextual issues, and grammar mechanics so that they can independently apply these concepts to their own work in the future.
