Current MPA/MAIR Students
Currently enrolled SU graduate students wishing to apply to another graduate degree or certificate program concurrently (that is, alongside their existing program of study) should use the abbreviated Internal Admit application process outlined here. You must have at least one full semester where you are enrolled in both programs; if you will graduate from your current/existing program before actually starting the program you are adding, you are not eligible to use the Internal Admit process and must rather follow the standard application process. If you have questions about whether you qualify for the internal admit process, please email MaxEnroll@syr.edu with your details.
- Completed Internal Admit application form.
- Brief personal statement (1 page maximum) articulating your reasons for wanting to add the additional program.
- A letter of recommendation from a professor in your current graduate program at SU.
- Students applying to a second master’s degree must do so after completing at least one semester in your current graduate program; students adding a certificate of advanced study can apply at any time.
Please submit your completed Internal Admit application form and personal statement to MaxEnroll@syr.edu at least one full semester prior to completion of your current/existing program. Likewise, please ask your current professor to email their letter of recommendation directly to MaxEnroll@syr.edu with subject line “Internal Application – Recommendation for XYZ” and be sure to include your full name.
