Assisted listening device

  • These devices receive all audio being projected in the room speakers and can be worn by users with hearing disabilities. Users have the ability to control volume and listen through an earpiece (3.5mm jack) that is connected to the body pack receiver. 
  • Located inside the box on top of the cabinet behind the Teaching Station, the assisted listening device can be turned on/off by holding the Power button on top for a few seconds. Pressing the Power button while ON will display device information, including battery levels and device channel.

  • Insert headphones in either of the two ports on top. 
  • The device should be on channel E.
  • Use the up/down arrow buttons to adjust sound.

  • A charging cable and wall adapter are located inside the same box as the device.

  • Remember to switch the device off to preserve the battery. 

Computer speakers

  • Speakers are mounted on the ceiling.

  • They can be accessed via the Presenter Laptop (Settings->System->Sound) or HDMI input on your personal device.

  • Volume can be adjusted via the Media Controller under Main Volume.

  • Group Work Monitors need to be sent to the Front Display via the Media Controller in order to project sound through the room speakers.

Conference phone capable

  • Located at the Circulation desk (Bird library, first floor), the conference phone can be checked out, along with your room key, at the time of the event.

  • Locate an Ethernet port in the room to connect the phone to (see Network). Connect the provided Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port.

  • Connect the USB-C-to-Ethernet adapter to the USB-C port on the back of the phone. Then, connect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the adapter.

  • The screen may flash for a second, then you'll see the boot screen while the phone is starting (takes about a minute). Once finished booting, the main screen will show up displaying the conference phone's phone number.

  • Additional wired microphones (with Mute buttons) are available with the phone, they connect to the ports located on the left and right side of the phone. You can extend the microphones up to 7 feet (2.13m) from the phone. For best results, place the microphones between 3 feet (0.91 m) and 7 feet (2.1 m) away from the phone.

Group work monitors

  • 6 monitors are available at each of the six group tables.

  • They can be controlled from the Media Controller using each group's individual input. Additional options are available to project to all displays, front and rear displays, it's own display, front display or rear display.

  • Group Work Monitors need to be sent to the Front Display via the Media Controller in order to project sound through the room speakers.
  • A Video Mute (turns off displays) and a Send All Groups to Their Own Displays option for all group displays is also available from the Media Controller.

HD Display screen

  • Two screens are available in the room, one in the front and one in the back, both screens are mounted on the wall.

  • Both displays can be controlled via the Media Controller with Mute On and Mute Off options (turns screens on and off).

HDMI

  • Located on the Teaching Station's ports hub, can be used to connect your personal device to project onto the screens.

  • Select HDMI from the Media Controller to activate the input. Additional options are available to project on the front, rear or all displays in the room.

HDMI cables (participants)

  • Located at each of the group tables, HDMI cables are available to connect the room's or user's laptops to the monitors located at each table. Only one device at a time can be displayed on the group table's monitor, select the Play button to activate an HDMI cable.

Keyboard and mouse (wired, wireless) 

  • A wireless keyboard and mouse are available in the room.
  • A wired mouse is available on the Teaching Station and attached to the Presenter Laptop.

Laptops (participants)

  • Windows laptops are available for room users, they're located in the laptop cabinet in the back-left corner of the room. Cabinet must padlocked before leaving the room.

  • You can log in using your NetID and password or via the Guest account.

Media controller (touch panel)

  • Located on the Teaching Station, this is used to control the input and options of the devices available in the room via its touchscreen.

Microphone (lapel)

  • A wireless lapel microphone is located on top of the cabinet, behind the Teaching Station.

  • Hold down the Power/Mute button for a few seconds to turn on and off.

  • The wireless lapel microphone needs to be on the Group 1 Channel 1 frequency.

  • Remember to turn the microphone off to preserve batteries.  
  • Microphone volume can be adjusted via the Media Controller under Mic Volume.

Network (wired, wireless)

  • An Ethernet port is available on the wall, towards the bottom, behind the cabinet by the Teaching Station. The port is labeled 2TB47060.

Presenter Laptop

  • A Windows laptop is located on the Teaching Station, select PC from the Media Controller to activate on the screen/s. Additional options are available to project on the front, rear or all displays in the room.

Teaching station (movable)

  • Located in the front of the room, you'll find the movable Teaching Station along with the Presenter Laptop, the Media Controller panel, and a ports hub including two USB charging ports, one open power outlet, three Ethernet cables and one HDMI cable.
