Self-Service Copying
Self-service copiers are located in Bird library (first, second, third and fourth floor) and Carnegie library (second and third floor). The copy machines are able to scan directly to an email address or a USB flash drive free of charge. All copiers currently use Syracuse University’s PaperCut print management system to pay for copies. Syracuse University guests and visitors are able to use their guest printing accounts to login and use the copiers.

Login
Manual Login
Press the ‘Keyboard/Alternate Login’ button, located at the upper right of the interface.
Enter your netid and password to login.
Guests are required to use the username and password associated with their self-generated guest account
SUID Card Swipe Login
Press the Log In/Out button, select Alternate Login and use your netid and password to login. Guests, use your guest printing account (guest-your username) and password to login.
Hold your SU ID card to the “Tap your SUID to scan or photocopy” sticker, located to the left of the interface, using your four-digit password to login when prompted.
Note: you must first set up a password (see below) to use this feature.
Creating a Card Swipe Password
Press the ‘Keyboard/Alternate Login’ button, located at the upper right of the interface. Use your netid and password to login.
You will be taken to an ‘Associated Card’ screen, where you have the option to set up the card read feature. Click 'yes'
Enter your netid name and password and create a four-digit pin.
If you forget this pin, you can login to Papercut (printing.syr.edu) and create a new pin by pressing on the ‘Change Details’ button.
Logout
Press the top-left corner interface button that displays your username, select ‘Log Out.’
For your security, the copier will automatically time out after three minutes of inactivity. All unsent projects will be deleted when this happens.
Copying
After selecting the ‘Copy’ option, customize your settings as desired. Options include reducing, enlarging, and basic settings such as lighting and darkening. Black & white and single-sided are the default options.
Top Feeder Option: place pages on top feeder in a portrait orientation (landscape orientation for 11x17”) and press ‘Start.’
Glass Option: place page on the glass in a portrait orientation (landscape orientation for 11x17 originals) at the top-left corner and press ‘Start.’
Scanning
Scanned documents are sent as PDFS to the email address you provide.
Select the ‘Email’ option and then click the ‘Add me’ button to add your Syracuse University email address. It is recommended that you send scan jobs to this address first, in order to give yourself the opportunity to make sure the document is of acceptable quality.
Top Feeder Option: place pages in the top feeder in a portrait orientation (landscape orientation for 11x17) and press ‘Preview.’ Upon scanning, all pages will appear on the Preview screen. You may add more pages to the document by clicking the plus sign (+) on the blank page graphic on the interface and then either ‘Add Pages with Current Settings’ or ‘Add Pages with New Settings,’ then ‘Ok.’ Repeat as needed.. When finished, press ‘Send.’
Glass Option: place page on the glass in a portrait orientation (landscape orientation for 11x17) at the top-left corner of the glass and press ‘Preview.’ If multiple pages are to be sent in the same document (scanning the pages of a book, for instance) click the plus sign (+) on the blank page graphic on the interface and then either ‘Add Pages with Current Settings’ or ‘Add Pages with New Settings,’ then ‘Ok.’ Repeat as needed. When finished, click the ‘submit’ button.
Scan to USB Drive
If you choose to scan to USB Drive:
Only FAT32 formatted USB drives are recognized by this machine. If your drive is not recognized, you must re-format your USB drive.
Backup all your files before doing this, otherwise they will be permanently deleted.
