Get started with Examplify

Overview

The College of Law uses Examplify for exams administered both in person and remotely. The information below speaks to the essential functionality of Examplify, including downloading and taking a mock exam. For information specific to taking exams remotely, please also refer to Taking a remotely administered exam

Download and installation of Examplify

Using Chrome or Firefox browsers, head to https://examsoft.com/syracuselaw and log in as an Exam Taker.

Note: If you are redirected to the ExamSoft homepage or prompted to log in again, rather than the Getting Started page, please clear your browser cache and attempt the login again.

Click the appropriate download button on the resulting page, and set up notifications, if desired.

Open and run the downloaded file, following prompts to complete installation.

Logging in to Examplify

During your first login, and occasionally thereafter, you will be prompted to add or log in to an account. Please choose “Syracuse University College of Law” as your institution, then log in via your browser when prompted.

Note: This process does not work well with the Safari browser. If you prefer Safari, please set Chrome or Firefox as your default browser while first configuring Examplify. You may then switch the default back to Safari after Examplify is authenticated, if desired. Additional note: If you are redirected to the ExamSoft homepage or prompted to log in again, rather than receiving a notification that you’ve successfully activated Examplify, please clear your browser cache and attempt the login again.

Downloading exams

Exams that are ready for download will be available in the lefthand column. You may need to use the refresh button at the lower left if an expected exam is not available.

Exams are typically made available between 1 and 5 days prior to exam day, and you will receive notice from the system that a new exam is available to download.

Exam numbers and passwords

Exam numbers are automatically populated within Examplify. Please do not alter this number.

Passwords are provided to you by the exam administration team. During in-person exams, the password will be provided to you in the exam room. During remotely administered exams, you will receive the exam password via email to your @syr.edu mailbox at the beginning of that day’s exam window.

Taking a mock exam

The available mock exams include a demonstration of most functionality with Examplify, including different question types, attachments, available tools, and proctoring features for remotely administered exams. Note that the configuration of any particular exam is subject to instructor preference, and may not include all question types, attachments, or tools.

You may take mock exams as often as you like, and we encourage you to do so at least once per semester to ensure both that your computer is configured and ready for exam day and that you are familiar with the process.

Download the appropriate mock exam for your class, then enter using case-sensitive password “Abc123” without quotes.
