The Newhouse LA program is offered during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
Eligibility
- Junior or senior standing (60 credits completed) by the start of your semester in LA.
- Good academic, judicial, and financial standing with your home college and no unresolved issues.
- An academic advising plan that includes completion of your declared major requirements.
- Syracuse University non-Newhouse majors need to submit home college approval.

Know before you go:
- Advertising: declare your emphasis
- Bandier: recommended fall semester of senior year
- Broadcast Digital Journalism: Completion of JNL 211 is required. Completion of BDJ 311/364 is recommended.
- TRF: completion of TRF 205/211/235 before your planned semester
- Single-enrolled Newhouse students: declare your minor
- Duals and non-Newhouse majors: Have the Off Campus Home College Approval form 2022.pdf filled out from the Advising Office, Records Manager or Student Services Director/Dean of your home college.

- In-person Los Angeles Orientation: January 6, 2025 at 10 a.m. PST
Summer 2025

- Mandatory Virtual Informational Meeting: Feb. 7, 2025 at 2 p.m. EST
- In-person Los Angeles Orientation: May 20, 2024 at 10 a.m. PST
Fall 2025

- In-person Los Angeles Orientation: August 19, 2024 at 10 a.m. PST
