Newhouse LA students can arrange for short-term fully-furnished apartments through Kapi Residences.

Visit the website for more information, including a welcome packet and details about the apartments. Click 'Apply Now' at the top of the page and select  "Choose Your Apartment Location And Room Type"  to see pricing information. Four students in a two-bedroom apartment (two students share a bedroom and bathroom) is the most cost-effective option.

Once you have decided on your room type, complete the application. You can indicate the name of a roommate and two additional housemates if desired, or Kapi can also place you with other Newhouse LA students.

There is a $500 deposit, due 48 hours after you apply, that will hold the apartment until you sign the lease. You will receive an invoice via email and can pay with a credit card.  The $500 is non-refundable if you cancel your reservation.  If you sign a lease, the $500 will become your refundable security deposit.

SPRING 2025:  Deadline to apply: Monday, November 4. Apartments are first come, first served.  

Housing options are: 

  • AVA BURBANK,401 N Pass Ave, Burbank, CA 91505:   
    • Shared Bedroom/Shared Bathroom: $6,015 per semester (4 students sharing a 2bedroom/2bathroom apartment) 
    • Private Bedroom/Private Bathroom - $11,980 per semester (2 students sharing a 2bedroom/2bathroom apartment)
    • Parking is included.
  • AVA NoHo, 5077 Lankershim Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91601:   
    • Shared Bedroom/Shared Bathroom: $6,115  per semester (4 students sharing a 2bedroom/2bathroom apartment) 
    • Private Bedroom/Private Bathroom - $12,180 per semester (2 students sharing a 2bedroom/2bathroom apartment)
    • Parking is first come, first served and an additional cost of $150/month. 

Payment: You can pay Kapi directly on a monthly basis as directed in your lease or you can choose Housing Accommodation Agreement and the University will pay your rent on your behalf and bill your Bursar account. If you wish to pay Kapi directly you do not need to notify us. If you choose to utilize the Housing Accommodation, you must complete the Housing Accommodation form. Housing Accommodation can only be used in conjunction with a lease from Kapi Residences. The $500 security/holding deposit is paid to directly to Kapi whether or not you choose complete the Housing Accommodation form.  

The Housing Accommodations Agreement is is due by Monday, November 8 at 2:00 PM PT/  5:00PM ET to Lauren Palius at lppalius@syr.edu..
