Portable Internet Devices

Faculty and staff who need high-speed Internet services while on the road can now pack broadband access in their pockets.  The Wireless Broadband Access service, sponsored by Telecom ITS, provides clients with a high-speed connection to the Internet via their WiFi enable devices in regions where cellular service is available. The service costs $5 per day (minimum three days, maximum 14 days). No additional data charges are applied. Those interested in using the service can contact ITS Telecommunications at 443-1870 or e-mail telecom@syr.edu to arrange to obtain a Mifi Mobile Hotspot. Program charges will appear on the departmental monthly telecommunications statement. If the MiFi is not returned, a $300 replacement fee will be applied to the client’s departmental account. Loaner Smartphone

Telecommunications has one loaner Smartphone that is international ready. It is available on a first come first serve basis. You will be required to pay $10 per day for the phone, plus the costs of your usage while traveling abroad. Rates vary per country, please contact Telecommunication at ext. 4730 for more information.
