Requirements to print on campus from a managed Mac

When on campus and connected to AirOrangeX, OpenVPN Connect must be running with a "Connected" status.

You must be signed into NoMad in order to authenticate to the printer. Please make sure there is a check mark in the NoMad triangle icon on your menu bar indicating you are signed in.

If the computer is plugged into the network via an Ethernet cable, OpenVPN Connect icon will have an amber dot indicating you are hard wired to the network and not using AirOrangeX at that time.

OpenVPN Connect and NoMad are automatically installed on SU managed Macs.

  1. Determine if your computer is connected to the campus network with an Ethernet cable or if it's only connected to AirOrangeX wifi.
  2. If connected to AirOrangeX, continue to step 3. If connected via Ethernet, move on to step 4.
  3. Connect or verify OpenVPN is connected.
    1. The icon on the menu bar should have a green dot informing you it's connected when on campus and AirOrangeX.
    2. If you don't have the icon in the menu bar, find OpenVPN Connect alias in your Macintosh HD/Applications folder and click it to open.

      c. If you see a red dot, click the icon and click Connect. The dot should turn green.

         4. Once OpenVPN is connected OR you're plugged in via Ethernet, click on NoMad icon in your toolbar (the triangle) and choose Sign In. If there's already a check mark in the triangle, skip to step 6.

         5. When prompted, enter your NetID and password

        6. Once the check mark appears in the middle of the triangle icon, you are ready to print!
