Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility
The Department of Public Administration and International Affairs (PAIA) of the Maxwell School strives to create and maintain a diverse, inclusive, equitable, and accessible learning environment in which all students, faculty, and staff are treated fairly and are empowered to achieve their goals.
We value the experiences and perspectives that each person brings to our community. We honor the diversity among our students, staff, and faculty; this includes but is not limited to differences in race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, socioeconomic class, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, disability, age, and veteran status, and in other areas. We believe that these differences are important ingredients for building stronger institutions, finding creative solutions to pressing problems, and are the foundation of democracy.
Through its educational programs, the Department is committed to preparing students to understand, live among, appreciate, and work in a diverse world with different people. We also seek to empower students to develop the perspectives, knowledge, and skills required to help recognize, diagnose, and address inequities in their future workplaces, in public service efforts, and in broader society.
