Space Permissions in Answers

Space Permissions are the first level of security for your space. Space Permissions determine what actions users can do within your space. As each space is independent, each space can have it’s own unique set of permissions. Space Permission can only be modified by Space Administrators (users with the Admin Space Permission).

Managing Space Permissions

Space Permissions can be managed by any user with the Space Administrator Space Permission. See the vendor documentation on managing your Space Permissions, as well as in-depth details on each permission: https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/assign-space-permissions/

Permission Entities

Space Permissions can be set for the following entities:

  • Users

  • Groups Limited

  • Anonymous

  • Guests Not Yet Available

  • Public Links

Available Permissions

The following Space Permissions can be set within each space:

All

This is the “viewer” permissions, setting the users that can view the space. This can be used in conjunction with Anonymous Space Permissions, which has the same permissions.

These are the “editor” permissions, giving access to designated users to be able to create, edit, and delete various content objects within the space. See https://su-jsm.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/Answers/pages/164430249 for more information on the different content objects and documentation for content contributors.

Blogs

Blogs are a newer feature to Answers, comparable to that of a more structured page tree. As a Space Admin, you can choose to enable or disable this feature within your space.

Comments

This permission allows entities to add, update, and delete comments on the various content objects within your space. If this permission is not enabled for an entity, they will not see the comment section on a page. Only users that have the Comment Space Permission will be able to view, add, and remove comments within the space.

Attachments

Allows an entity to upload attachments and files to content objects within the space.

Restrictions

Allows an entity to apply content-level Restictions on content objects such as Pages, Smart Links, and Whiteboards.

Space

Space Administrators can add/remove other Space Administrators with this Space Permission, giving or removing access to the Space Administrator functionalities such as setting Space Permissions, managing Content Statuses and Automation, and more.
