Using the Editor in Answers
Answers uses a WYSIWYG editor for creating and updating pages. The editor includes basic text/font formatting options, as well as a multitude of more advanced features such as collaborative editing and macros. See Creating Pages in Answers for more information on creating and editing pages, and accessing the editor.
Features:
Other Editor Topics:
Basic Content Formatting
The editor includes basic content formatting, such as heading styles, alignment, lists, and text options.
Header and Title Formatting
The editor features a handful of new features unique to cloud. These features include header images, page statuses, and page width (full or partial). These features are accessed by hovering over the title of the page in the editor.
Header Image
There are a multitude of preset images from Unsplash to select from, or you can choose your own. This will appear as a banner for the specific page.
Page Statuses
Page statuses are an indicator of if a page is in a Rough Draft, In Progress, or Ready for Review status. Additional statuses can be added and existing statuses can be managed by a Space Administrator.
Page Width
There are two options for the page width, full and partial, and will display as selected in the editor as well as when viewing the page
Links
Links can be inserted on an Answers page to both internal and external sites. When linking to another Answers page, search for and select the desired page from the list instead of copying the URL or short link of the page (also known as an Internal link).
Links can also be configured how they display, showing as URL, inline, or card formats. See below for examples.
Files and Images
Attaching and inserting files and image to an Answers page follows the same process for all filetypes. When inserting an image or file onto a page, the file is added as an attachment in addition to displaying on the page. Attachments can be managed through the Attachments section in the Page Actions.
Images
When attaching images, you can adjust the image size, apply borders to the image, set alignment and text wrap, add captions and more. Images can also be added inline to content as well, without altering line height and spacing.
Files
Files are presented differently depending on the filetype. If it is a supported filetype, a preview will appear. The display can be set as well, providing the ability to either set it inline or card format.
Mentions
Mentions provide the ability to dynamically list individual users on a page. When a user is mentioned on a page, they will receive a notification. Whenever they view the page, their name will be highlighted where used.
Emojis
Emojis allow you to add spark to your content, giving you the ability to break away from monotonous text on a page. Such can be used to grab attention to certain topics, high priority tasks, and other items.
Example:
Q2 Targets
Increase sales by 10%
Increase profits by 5%
Decrease turnover by 15%
Q1 Accomplishments
Record sales!
Employee retention +15%
Page Layout
Page Layout allows you to insert and divide your page into different sections. There are no limit to the number of sections on a page, however there is a limit to the available divisions of the sections, between variations of 2 and 3 block sections.
Tables
Tables can be highly customized in the number of rows and columns, tagging a row as a heading row or column, and can be used to chart the data within. The charts generated from the table can also be customized with their own set of parameters and options.
Macros
Macros are dynamic blocks of content within Answers. See the following vendor documentation on macros in Answers Cloud: https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/what-are-macros/
