MySlice Access for Syracuse University Applicants or SUPA (Project Advance) Participants

Overview


Some users need access to MySlice to view important Syracuse University information but are not automatically provided with an SUMail email account.

This page offers guidance on signing in to MySlice as an applicant, Project Advance participant, or other user group without an active email inbox.


Before You Log In: Activate Your NetID


Access to MySlice, like many of the University's computing services, is controlled through your NetID username and password. Before you will be able to sign into your MySlice portal, you must first activate your NetID. To do so, navigate to the NetID Self-Serv page, click Activate your NetID, and follow the prompts to activate.

Note that it can take up to an hour after activating your NetID before you will be able to login to MySlice.

NetID Activation will require your 9-digit SUID number.

NetIDs are different than your 9-digit SUID number.

Applicants will find their SUID number in the email sent from Syracuse University confirming receipt of application. If you did not receive this email (be sure to check your spam folder,) please write to Admissions at orange@syr.edu.

Project Advance Students will find their SUID in the welcome email sent from Syracuse University Project Advance after officially registering for a SUPA course.

Have a Temporary NetID?

Students in the College of Professional Studies who are auditing classes or taking classes as non-matriculated students may first receive a temporary NetID and password. These temporary credentials are then used to obtain your SUID, before activating the NetID.

ITS Help Staff do not have a way of verifying or viewing temporary credentials. questions or issues about temporary NetID’s should be referred to the Bursar & Registration Office (CPS)

Instructions for Accessing MySlice as an Applicant or SUPA (Project Advance) Instructor or Student


Step 1: Applicants: Activate and Manage Your NetID and Password

  • Once you have received your SUID number, which is included in your letter of admission from Syracuse University, activate your NetID by going to netid.syr.edu and selecting Activate your NetID from the options provided.

  • Follow the on screen instructions to finish your NetID activation.

Note that it can take up to an hour after activating your NetID before you will be able to login to MySlice.


Step 2: Navigate to MySlice and Log In

  • Using a supported MySlice browser, navigate to myslice.syr.edu

  • Once there, click on the Login button.

  • When you get to the Microsoft Sign in screen enter your NetID followed by "@syr.edu", for example, the NetID "otto44" would enter "otto44@syr.edu". Then click Next.

  • If you encounter a screen that says "You don't have access to this", double check the email you used to login. The error usually means that a non-syr.edu email that does not have access to MySlice was used to login. Click sign out and sign in with a different account to login with the correct credentials.

  • Enter your NetID password

  • If you need to change your password, you can do so at netid.syr.edu using the forgot your password option. Check the NetID Password FAQ for more information.

  • If you have not configured multi-factor authentication yet, you will be prompted to configure before proceeding. Follow the on screen instructions. More instructions are available on the Configuring Microsoft Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) page.

 

Email access is not available to applicants or Project Advance (PA or SUPA) instructors or students.

For applicants: an active email inbox is automatically generated within 24-48 hours after the acceptance process is completed and the account status changes from applicant to active student. Once generated, active students access their email address by going to sumail.syr.edu or in MySlice by clicking on Student Resources > Syracuse Email.


Parent Proxy Accounts
