Personally Owned Windows Computer

These directions are for students or faculty/staff who need to print from a personally owned Windows computer connected to the SU network via AirOrangeX. 

 

 Step 1. Click the Start button and type "run" into the search box and press EnterThe run dialog can also be accessed by holding down the Windows Key on your keyboard and pressing the R key. This box should show up:

Step 2. Type \\printers.ad.syr.edu\ into the run dialog box and click OK.

This credential box should show up:

Type in the following:
Username: AD\netid 
Password: Your NetID password 

Make sure you check Remember my credentials.


Step 3. Right-click on the printer you wish to install and click on Connect.

Step 4.  This credential box should show up: 

 A box prompting to connect to printers.ad.syr.edu

Type in the following:
Username: NetID 
Password: Your NetID password 

Make sure you check Remember my password and click OK. 

Now, you should be able to print to the installed printer. 

Please note: When you print for the first time to an SU printer, you will be prompted to authenticate. In the name field enter AD\NetID and your NetID password. Faculty and staff print jobs are not hold/release, jobs will print immediately. Students printing to a managed printer via printserver will need to login to printing.syr.edu with their NetID and password to release their print jobs and be charged against their available Papercut funds.
