Student Organizations must follow the following standards while hosting a website under the http://syr.edu domain:

Accessibility

All content on the web must meet the University’s ICT Accessibility Policy Standards.

Branding

Student Org websites hosted by SE Technical Services must follow the University’s brand guidelines.

Cobalt is an accessible and responsive WordPress theme specifically designed to be used with the University managed WordPress hosting platform. SE Technical Services will automatically apply this theme to your website in the initial setup.

Content

Does this quickly connect your audience to your goal? Is all needed information available and easy to locate?

Audiences often “skim” communications in only a few seconds. It is encouraged to remove unnecessary text or hyperlinks to more information when appropriate. Use headers to make content easy to skim through.

Domain Name

All Student Org websites hosted by SE Technical Services must use the studentorgs.syr.edu domain name.

Example: https://studentorgs.syr.edu/organization-name

Recognized Student Organizations

SE Technical Services provides web hosting and technical support to the following undergraduate student organizations only:

Undergraduate student organizations recognized by Student Engagement.
Greek Organizations registered by Fraternity & Sorority Affairs.
Sports clubs registered with Competitive Club Sports.

A complete list of these organizations can be found by referring to those branches on the 'Cuse Activities website.
