Degree Certification and Diploma Request
Degree Certification –
Degree certification for December graduates will occur in mid-January after all Fall grades are submitted and reviewed.
Degree certification for May graduates will occur in early June after all Spring grades are submitted and reviewed.
August degree certification will occur in late September after all Summer grades are submitted and reviewed.
The College of Law Registrar’s Office handles all degree certification.
Diploma Request –
The University Registrar’s Office handles diploma ordering.
Current students will be notified via email on how to submit their diploma request when it is made available in MySlice. You can find the diploma request in MySlice under Academics.
Diplomas are ordered through the University Registrar’s Office and will be mailed approximately 4-6 weeks after degree certification has been complete. Any issues with your diploma should be addressed with the University Registrar’s Office by email.
Bar Certification
Current students –
Complete the Student Service Request Form for Bar Certification during your 3L year to inform the College of Law Registrar’s Office where you plan to sit for the bar exam.
Any supplemental forms that are needed for bar certification should be sent to lawstudentrecords@syr.edu.
If your bar state requires an official, degree bearing transcript, you will order one through the online portal here. Please do not order an official degree bearing transcript until you have been notified that your degree has been certified and posted to your transcript.
Bar certification is completed by the College of Law Registrar’s Office after all final grades are submitted, and once degrees have been certified for all graduates.
