PRAXIS EXAM INFORMATION AND RESOURCES

ASHA Standards require that the applicant must have passed the national examination adopted by ASHA, the PRAXIS, for purposes of certification in speech-language pathology or audiology.

See: applying for certification

SLP: https://www.asha.org/certification/slpcertification/

Audiology: https://www.asha.org/certification/audcertification/

It is recommended that individuals register and take the Praxis exam no earlier than the completion of their graduate coursework and graduate clinical practicum or during their first year of clinical practice following graduation. Applicants should take into consideration any state licensing requirements regarding completion of the exam.

The test content is designed to assess the knowledge of clinicians on the first day of practice as Audiologists or Speech-Language Pathologists. Taking the exam early as "practice" or to "see what you get" without studying (with the intention of taking it again) is not recommended (use the practice resources below!).

ETS RESOURCES (the company that develops and administers the exams)

General prep resources (including free and fee-based prep resources)

These resources include two things at minimum you SHOULD USE!:

FREE STUDY COMPANIONS

INTERACTIVE PRACTICE EXAMS  - FREE OR SUBSCRIPTION! These are highly recommended to understand the format and content areas of the PRAXIS exam.

When you register to take a test you will receive a free interactive practice test for the corresponding subject.

You can subscribe to the practice test at any time without registering for the actual PRAXIS test for a fee (currently $19.95). This interactive practice test consists of a single set of practice questions. There is only one version available for this test title, so each time you take the practice test, you answer the same questions in the same order. Retaking or repurchasing the same practice test more than once does not give you different practice questions or change the order in which the questions are delivered.
