MacOS Instructions

1. Open System Settings and select Printers & Scanners

2. At the top of Add Printer control + click, right click, or two finger click to bring up the sub-menu and select Customize Toolbar

   

3. A new menu will pop up, click and drag the Advanced icon to the toolbar, when you see the icon in the tool bar click Done.

   

                                      

4. Click on Advanced and select or enter the following information:

a.      Type: Windows printer via spools

b.     Device: Another device

c.  URL: enter smb://printers.ad.syr.edu/SOE-GA-Printer-1 or smb://printers.ad.syr.edu/SOE-GA-Printer-2 or smb://printers.ad.syr.edu/SOE-GA-Printer-3

d.     Name: The name should match the URL automatically as it is typed

e.     Location: Enter in a location if required.

f.       Driver: Select the appropriate driver from the Select software or Other... options.

Windows Instructions

1. Click the Start button and type run into the search box and press Enter.  The run dialog can also be accessed by holding down the Windows Key on your keyboard and pressing the R key. Type \\printers.ad.syr.edu\ into the run dialog box and click OK:

   

2. This credential box should show up:

   

   Type in

   Username: AD\netid

   Password: Your netid Password

   Make sure you check Remember my credentials.

3. Right-click on the printer you wish to install and click on connect. Choose from the numbered SOE printers: SOE-GA-Printer1/2/3

   

4. This credential box should show up:

   

   Username: netid

   Password: Your netid password

   Make sure you check Remember my password and Click Ok
