ArcGis

ArcGIS from ESRI is the leading family of products for Geographical Information Systems (GIS). SU has a site license for ESRI products, managed by the Geographic and Statistical Information Center (G-SIC) located in E.S. Bird Library. Key products available are ArcGIS Desktop (ArcView, ArcEditor, and ArcInfo) and ArcInfo Workstation. Platform support includes Windows, Unix, and Linux.

Product Use Rights

Terms of Use:  ESRI grants University a nonexclusive, nontransferable license to copy and use the programs for the University’s own internal use for research and instruction by faculty and registered students and administrative staff including for managing Institute physical plant facilities. Use of the licensed Programs for Commercial Use, profit or private gain is an express violation of the terms.

Faculty/Staff Home Use: Faculty and staff of departments participating in the campus cost share and licensed to use ArcGIS on a University device may also install ArcGIS Pro on a single personal computer at no additional cost.  Information for ArcGIS Pro is available at ESRI ArcGIS Pro Named User License.

Availability

Institutional Licenses For Faculty/Staff: ITS currently has a site license. License costs are currently shared by multiple departments and are limited to employees of participating departments. Departments interested in utilizing ArcGIS and sharing in the cost are encouraged to contact their distributed staff personnel for more information.

Student Licenses: Syracuse University students can find information for ArcGIS Pro at ESRI ArcGIS Pro Named User License.
