Course Description

Advanced computer networking concepts in planning, design and management of the infrastructure needed for supporting data intensive, cloud and virtualized environments. Previous knowledge of TCP/IP concepts is required.

Students of the Master’s Degree program on Enterprise Data Systems are the primary audience for this course. Students in other graduate degree programs may enroll with permission of the instructor.

Learning Objectives

After taking this course, students will be able to: 

  1. Analyze and apply network segmentation and design concepts.
  2. Analyze and apply naming and addressing concepts for network infrastructure.
  3. Analyze and apply network security concepts and solutions throughout an enterprise infrastructure.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of network configuration management methods.
  5. Demonstrate an understanding of IPv6 addressing and related IPv6 protocols.
  6. Gather requirements and create plans for data infrastructures that support data intensive environments.
