Exploration of IT infrastructure and culture in global organizations including issues of globalization, distributed collaboration, virtual organizations, culture, global enterprise systems, data business analytics and knowledge management.

Learning Objectives

After taking this course, students will be able to:

• Describe different perspectives on globalization, culture, global IT systems and global data and their intertwined dynamics in today's society and workplaces.
• Manage and lead a global distributed collaboration project across industries in a complex global cultural context as the class project.
• Discuss and analyze the role of culture in global enterprises and workplaces.
• Identify and analyze examples of IT infrastructures (i.e., cloud computing) operated by global enterprises and global projects.
• Demonstrate ability to analyze disrupting technologies and systems across industries and understand the benefits of these technologies and systems as well as social and ethical consequences.
• Design and conduct a small-scale big data project, learn about big data in global organizations, and apply big data analytical schemes and techniques and processes in the project.
