Creating Blackboard "Sandboxes"

While auto-creation of sandbox sites is not available, here are some avenues that instructors can pursue:

  • Instructors with unused Blackboard course sites from previous semesters are encouraged to use them for experimentation. These course sites are unavailable to students. Any content developed in them can be easily copied to the active course site for the current semester.
  • Instructors interested in a new sandbox site to experiment should request one by emailing help@syr.edu. ITS is happy to create one for any instructor wishing to explore.
  • Instructors can experiment by creating a new content area in any course without selecting the option "Available to Users." Any content created in that space is hidden from students and can be easily copied to a visible course area at any time.
