Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Honor Society for Political Science, accepts students who are majors or minors in Political Science, who have an overall GPA of 3.2 or higher, and a GPA of 3.4 or higher in all Political Science-related coursework. Students must also have completed 12 credits (4 courses) of upper-division Political Science coursework at SU before applying. To apply, fill out an application and turn it in to Candy Brooks in 100 Eggers Hall. The deadline for turning in Pi Sigma applications is October 15th for the Fall semester and March 1st for the Spring semester.


The faculty advisor for Pi Sigma Alpha is Professor Grant Reeher ( gdreeher@maxwell.syr.edu).


Clubs and Organizations : Numerous student groups on campus are involved in political and policy matters, including the College Democrats and College Republicans. Many of our majors become members and leaders of these clubs.


Study Abroad: Political science courses are offered through the SU Abroad program centers in Beijing, Florence, Istanbul, London, Madrid, and Strasbourg, among other locations. These courses can be applied toward the PSC major requirements.


Publishing Political Science Research: For students interested in turning a class research paper, distinction thesis, or honors thesis into a publishable article, work with your faculty advisor and consider submitting your article to one of the following undergraduate political science journals:
