From the Taskbar

  1. Make sure you don't have Excel currently open
  2. Right-click the Excel icon in the taskbar and select "Open Excel 2010"
  3. Right-click the Excel icon in the taskbar again and select "Open Excel 2010"
  4. You should now have two windows with blank Excel spreadsheets.
  5. Select File, then Open, and then the file you want to open in each window.

 

From the Desktop

Note:  the desktop icon you use must be to the Excel program itself, not an Excel spreadsheet

  1. Make sure you don't have Excel currently open
  2. Right-click the Excel icon on the desktop and select "Open Excel 2010"
  3. Right-click the Excel icon on the desktop again and select "Open Excel 2010"
  4. You should now have two windows with blank Excel spreadsheets.
  5. Select File, then Open, and then the file you want to open in each window.
