The information below details a new procedure for setting up personal laptops to print in the Law Library, introduced in Fall 2023.  This information supersedes the previously employed printing methods for Windows Laptops.

Download and run setup batch file below

  • Please download file and double-click to run
  • When prompted for a username and password, enter username in the format "ad\[NetID]" without quotes
    • Replace "[NetID]" with your own NetID (the portion of your email address before the "@" symbol)
    • Please note the orientation of the "\"
    • Be sure to tick the box to remember your credentials
  • After sending a test print job, you may obtain your printed file using the instructions available at Law Library Print Job Release
  • Download setup file by clicking here
    • Note that you will need to run this setup file again in the future, after each change to your SU password

Manually set up printers

Note that these steps are not necessary if you have successfully run the setup file available above

  • In your Windows toolbar, click to search, enter "CMD", then select the Command Prompt window 
  • Type the command below exactly, noting spaces and the orientation of the "\" characters

    START \\law-print.ad.syr.edu\Law-Library1stFloor
  • When prompted for a username and password, enter username in the format "ad\[NetID]" without quotes
    • Replace "[NetID]" with your own NetID (the portion of your email address before the "@" symbol)
    • Please note the orientation of the "\"
    • Be sure to tick the box to remember your credentials
  • Setup for the 1st Floor printer is complete.  To add the 2nd Floor printer, enter the command below in the Command Prompt window

    START \\law-print.ad.syr.edu\Law-Library2ndFloor
  • After sending a test print job, you may obtain your printed file using the instructions available at Law Library Print Job Release
  • Note that you will need to complete these steps again in the future, after each change to your SU password



Student Organization Printers (click to expand)

  • Use the manual instructions as above.  Note that you must be granted specific permissions to use these printers.  These permissions can be requested by your organization's leaders via LawHelp@syr.edu
