Connecting to RDS


  1. Using a web browser, navigate to rds.syr.edu.

Depending on your affiliation with the university, choose a connection:

  1. Sign in using your SUMail address and NetID password:

  1. You may be presented with information about the Windows App. You can read each page and click Done afterwards, or press Skip to proceed to the next step.

  1. Select the remote environment you wish to sign into from the options presented onscreen.

browser history (including

If you are not logged in already, you will be prompted to do so using your email address (NetID@syr.edu) and NetID password.

To sign out of your session, navigate to the Start menu, click on your name or profile picture, and then select "Sign Out."

  2. After pressing Connect, you should be signed into the remote desktop environment. Please note that your session may start in full screen in order to enable keyboard shortcuts. If you want to exit full screen, press ESC on your keyboard.
