If the V-Ray Materials are not appearing on a lab computer, try this to bring them backHere are the steps to add materials using V-Ray 6 for Rhino 7.

  1. Click V-Ray > Asset Editor.

  2. Click the left arrow to expand the Materials side panel.

  3. Click Download and wait for the files to be downloaded (about 3.5gb). It will first download 3.4gb of textures, followed by materials.

  4. After it's done, click Continue.

  5. Close V-Ray and quit Rhino.
    Start Rhino and go back into the V-Ray materials panel.
    The materials panel should now show a list of materials (you may have to click the small blue drop down arrow next to Materials to reveal the list).
  6. Click the Continue button.

  7. Now when you click on a material type such as Bricks, it should show the materials in the center column.

  8. Right click a material and 'Add to Scene'

  9. Click 'Browse Materials in Cosmos'.

  10. The Chaos Cosmos Browser window will open. In order to download materials, you have to sign in. Click 'Sign in'. (You can create a free account if you don't have one.)

  11. After signing in, the Sign in link will change to a profile badge.

  12. Before downloading materials, change the download location; otherwise you will get the error "No access to downloads folder":

  13. To change the location, click the three dots and choose Settings.

  14. Click Change and choose a new location. We suggest using a folder within your 'OneDrive - Syracuse University' location.

  15. Now you should be able to download materials and import them into your project.
