Remove Email Forwarding in SUMail

As a means to protect Syracuse University's data and information, SUMail is to be used by students, faculty, staff, and associates for all University email correspondence. Individual email messages may be forwarded to external recipients when necessary and appropriate, but rules to automatically redirect (aka forward) messages to a different email system are not allowed.

Rules that automatically forward email from @syr.edu to another email system will be deleted by SUMail administrators in March 2025.

You can remove automatic forwarding from your SUMail inbox by following these instructions.

Visit http://sumail.syr.edu and login using your SUMail address and NetID password.

Select the gear icon on the top right-hand corner of the webpage. This will open up a submenu. Within this submenu, please click on the search bar that reads Search settings.

Type Forwarding in the search bar. Click Forwarding from the submenu once it becomes available.

Toggle the Enable Forwarding option Off to disable forwarding.
