Marshall Square Mall includes a variety of stores and restaurants. The mall was originally developed by partners, Demosthenes Stathis, Dean P. Vlassis, Irwin Berliner, and Eugene Bersani from property purchased from the Syracuse Urban Renewal Agency in 1979. In 2000 and 2001 improvements were made to the smoke and fire detection systems, handicap access increased and a new roof was installed. In fall 2007 SU Recreation Services added a 3,700 sq. ft. fitness center, accommodating 50 people
