Windows 11: Reset This PC

Use this guide to reset a Windows 11 PC using the built-in Reset this PC feature.

Resetting a PC can remove apps, settings, and personal files depending on the option selected. Make sure important files are backed up before proceeding.

Steps

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Select System, then choose Recovery.

  3. Under Recovery options, select Reset PC next to Reset this PC.

  4. NOTE: This point you need to input the administrator password given to you by IT.
    Follow the username below:

    Choose Remove everything to remove personal files, apps, and settings.

  6. Select the reinstall method Local reinstall to use files already on the device.

  7. Review the additional settings shown on screen, then select Next.

  8. Select Reset to begin.

  10. Wait for the PC to restart and complete the reset process.
