The GitHub Student Developer Pack is a collection of free tools, resources, and benefits available to students. It offers students access to premium software, cloud services, educational platforms, and other professional-grade developer tools, allowing them to build projects, learn coding, and work collaboratively without the usual costs.
1. Create a GitHub Account (if you don't have one)
Go to GitHub.com.
Click on Sign Up in the upper right corner.
Follow the prompts to create a new account by entering your email, username, and password.
Verify your email address to activate your account.
Complete your GitHub account billing information with your full legal name as it appears on your academic affiliation documentation. (You do not have to add a payment method.)
Secure your GitHub account with two-factor authentication. (We recommend using the GitHub Mobile app.)
2. Go to GitHub Education
Click on Sign up for Student Developer Pack.
3. Verify Your Student Status
You will be prompted to verify that you are a student.
Choose "Student" and fill out the form with your educational information.
4. Provide Proof of Enrollment
Upload one of the following:
A picture of your student ID card (recommended for higher chance of approval)
6. Wait for Approval
Once you've submitted your application, you will receive an email from GitHub notifying you of the approval (this can take a few days). Github do need to verify your student status as these free services do cost GitHub money due to high compute usage/demand so that they can best avoid abuse of their offering.
