Intra-University Transfer Application
The iSchool IUT admissions process is competitive. Students must apply online for IUT admission into the iSchool before completing the registrar's IUT form.
- To transfer into Syracuse University's School of Information Studies (iSchool) through the Intra-University Transfer (IUT) program, current SU undergraduates should first meet with an iSchool academic advisor during virtual walk-in hours (1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday) to review transcripts and discuss course transfers. Applicants must be in good academic standing, have enrolled in or completed IST 195, and submit Application for Undergraduate Intra-University Transfer (Registrar form) form along with a personal statement (up to 500 words) detailing their reasons for transferring. These documents should be emailed to iugadvising@syr.edu in .pdf, .doc, or .docx format. Admissions decisions are made by an internal iSchool committee. Meeting the minimum requirements and submitting an application by the deadline does not guarantee entry to the iSchool.
Declaring a Concentration
- To declare, change, or drop a concentration at Syracuse University's iSchool, students should complete the Concentration Declaration Form available on MySlice. Navigate to MySlice > e-forms > Registrar Forms > "Concentration Declaration." The form will auto-fill with personal details, and students must select the current semester and their intended concentration. Using the dropdown menu, indicate whether they are adding, changing, or dropping the concentration. After checking the confirmation box, submit the form. Note: This option is only available for students in which the iSchool is their home college. Students with a different home college should contact iugadvising@syr.edu.
