Course Description

Theories of motivation and behavior affecting information use in learning, workplaceThis course focuses on creating a motivating environment within an organization, whether it is a library, a small business, a corporation, a government agency, a start-up, or a school. Regardless of the setting, many of the motivational principles you will learn are relevant and applicable.

Through the readings, online discussions, videos and class activities and assignments in this course, students will learn about traditional and innovative applications of motivation theories and models for better understanding and improving their learning, work, and virtual environments. Emphasis on applying motivational Students will also find that these theories and models to management practices in information organizations and to the design of information resources and presentationshave been applied to all aspects of this course, such as choice of assignments, opportunities to work alone and in groups, and discussions that are interesting and relevant to the wide variety of challenges they will face as information professionals.
