Syracuse University websites, such as Myslice, may require the enabling of pop-ups in order to view desired content. Below you will find instructions on enabling pop-ups within the most commonly used browsers

 




Google Chrome

When you select a link that requires a pop-up and they are currently blocked, you are provided the message " Pop-up blocked" which appears on the address bar. This indicates that the pop-up was initiated by the webpage and Chrome's pop-up block feature prevented it from opening.

Whenever a up window tries to launch itself Mozilla prevents it from opening and displays a message on a yellow ribbon which reads " Firefox prevented this site from opening a pop-up window"

In order to view the pop-up, select "Options" on the yellow ribbon. Now select "Always allow pop-ups for myslice.syr.edu".

2) Under the websites tab, look for the "Pop-up Windows" setting on the left side under the "General" box. Click on this, and then you will see a list of currently open websites. Set the specified page currently open to "Allow" using the drop-down menu on the far right side.

Safari should now allow pop-ups to function normally on the allowed website(s).

 


Internet Explorer


Enabling Pop-Ups in the Moment

The default settings of Internet Explorer will prevent pop-ups and display a message on the bottom similar to "Internet Explorer blocked a pop-up from...".

Enabling Pop-Ups through Internet Settings

1.While Microsoft Edge is open, click on the 3 horizontal dots icon that is located in the upper right hand corner of the window, just below the X icon to close the window.

2.Locate the Settings option which is located in the menu that pops up, second from the bottom. It should be located just above the option for "Help and feedback."

3.On the left of the window that pops up, there should be 4 icons, a gear, a padlock, a key, and 3 lines with some buttons. You are going to press on the padlock icon.

4.Once you press the padlock icon, you will be brought to the "Privacy & security" options. Here you will need to scroll down until you find the switch under Security labeled "Block Pop-Ups." You will need to click on the switch turn this off.

5.Once that has been turned off, you will be able to view pop ups.
