We will be offering a Proposal Writing Workshop in September, 2023 (details forthcoming).
Our Expectations:
(i) Award recipients are required to send a brief biography and project abstract (one to two paragraphs in all) and a photo to Matthew Baxter (mhbaxter@syr.edu) by April 15, 2024 for use on the website
(ii) We expect that you will give a presentation on your research project upon invitation
(iii) We ask that you write a 1-2 page follow-up report on your grant related research activities
(iv) Additional requirements may be explained in the award notice.
The Bharati Memorial Award was established in 1994 to encourage and facilitate the study of South Asia among specifically among doctoral students at Maxwell. We therefore strongly encourage its recipients to present their projects in relevant forums during the 2024-202 2025 academic year, such as at the Annual Conference on South Asia, University of Wisconsin-Madison or other appropriate professional society conferences. Bharati Memorial Award recipients should also make significant efforts to publish a paper based on their funded project. Any publications and presentations that result from this award should acknowledge the “Bharati Memorial Award/South Asia Center Summer Research Grant Program at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School.”
