The AirOrangeHelp network is a "Limited" network connection and only intended for use to security connect to AirOrangeX. This connection will not allowing internet browsing or any other network related functions.

Step 2: Download the Network Wizard (XpressConnect)

If your download does not automatically begin, follow the instructions based on your browser to download the Network Wizard.

The network wizard will now download to the downloads section of the selected browser.

Step 3: Run the Network Wizard File

In most cases, your browser will show you the downloaded file on the screen either at the bottom or top right. If it does not, you'll need to locate the downloads area of your browser.

You will be prompted by a Windows 10 SmartScreen window to ensure you want to run the file. Select "Run".

Step 4: Enter Your NetID Credentials and Connect

XpressConnect will now open. Enter your NetID and NetID password and click "Next".

Your computer may ask you if you want to allow the Cloudpath App to make changes to this device. Click "Yes"

If successful, the XpressConnect tool will reach the "Connected" tab, display your IP Address and indicate that you are connected.

In some cases, your computer may not automatically connect to AirOrangeX. In this situation, simply click your Wi-Fi symbol in the taskbar and select "AirOrangeX" and "Connect". We recommend setting it to "Always Connect" so that your device connects whenever AirOrangeX is in range.

Step 5: You're Connected!

Your default browser will now open and redirect to our ITS Getting Connect page. If your browser does not, open your desired browser and visit its.syr.edu/gettingconnected. We recommend viewing all of this page's resources and bookmarking it for later use.

Troubleshooting

  3. You may see an alert that states ">SmartScreen can't be reached right now." Choose Run.

  4. Cloudpath will launch. At the Cloudpath screen, enter your NetID and NetID password to start the configuration.

  5. Once complete, Cloudpath will alert your that you are now connect to the AirOrangeX network. Congratulations!

Troubleshooting

AirOrangeX is not an option in the list of available networks

If your computer is not seeing the AirOrangeX network appear in the list of your available WiFi networks, it is recommended that you first restart your computer. 

If you still can't see AirOrangeX after a full restart of the computer, we recommend contacting ITS for further assistance.

If the device will not complete the "Connect to Network" or "Authenticate" step in the Xpress Connect Tool, please ensure that you have the latest Wi-Fi driver installed and verify your credentials on our NetID self service page.

If your preferred browser is being redirected back to the AirOrangeHelp page, please clear the cache of your browser to alleviate the redirect.

Cloudpath says there was an error connecting

First, please verify you are using the correct credentials on our NetID self-service page

Second, verify your date and/or

time settings are correct. Without WiFi, some computers cannot accurately set the date and time causing a certificate to seem invalid. This can sometimes be an issue with international devices that are set to a different time zone, so we advise when attempting to connect to have that updated for the Eastern Time Zone prior to connecting.

  1. Right-click on the Wi-Fi icon and Open Network and Sharing Center.
  2. On the left side of the Window click Change adapter settings.
  3. Right-click on the wireless adapter and choose Properties.
  4. Uncheck the box that says Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6), then click OK.
  5. Connect to AirOrangeX directly using your NetID credentials.
