About Collage
Collage is powered by
Collage is a digital asset management tool intended to share images and graphics with the SU community and beyond. It is the Syracuse University modified version of ResourceSpace, an open source digital asset management software located at resourcespace.org where additional information can be found. It is important to stress that the aim of Collage is to facilitate the sharing of assets, not to store private collections.
Collage is currently a two tier web application. The web application sever host front end is hosted on an Ubuntu Linux virtual machine with a separately hosted media server. The ResourceSpace application is a PHP application running under Apache. The The MySQL database server host is also co-located on an Ubuntu Linux virtual machine . The database server software is MySQL. that also hosts the media server filestore.
We selected ResourceSpace because it:
- has the features we were looking for without being overkillfor
- is open source (customizable, flexible)
- has a strong user group/community
- is user friendly
Peer site: Virginia Tech (http://www.photolibrary.unirel.vt.edu/) had over 33,000 images.

- storing 111,152 images, 58,782 of them Public
- largest single image so far 530 MB
- approximately 400 users who aren't simply "General Users"
