Figure 1_Assisted Listening SystemRecently upgraded LEMP registrar rooms include Assisted Listening Systems. These systems send all audio being projected in the rooms speakers, to individual body pack receivers that can be worn by users with hearing disabilities. Users have the ability to control volume and listen through an earpiece (3.5mm jack) that is connected to the body pack receiver.

Operating the Assisted Listening Receiver

To operate the Assisted Listening Receiver use the following instructions:

  • Turn on the technology system
  • Locate the receiver, which can usually be found in a drawer on the teaching station or in the technology rack. (See: Figure 2_ALS Receiver

  • Additional receivers can be provided by contacting the building administrator or by request at 315-443-2677
  • In the drawer, there should be a receiver, an earpiece, and AA batteries to power the receiver.
  • Connect the earpiece (3.5mm) in the audio jack found on the top of the receiver (See: Figure 2.1_Als Receiver_Top View)

  • The Receiver should now appear as follows (See: Figure 2.2_ALS Receiver_Ear Piece):

  • Make sure batteries are properly installed by opening the front cover of the receiver, by pressing the side of the cover and pulling down. (See: Figure 2.3_ALS Receiver_Batteries)

  • Turn the Volume Reel to the left to turn on the receiver (See: Figure 2.1_Als Receiver_Top View)
    • Turn to the left to increase volume and turn to the right to decrease volume, or turn of the receiver
  • Use the Channel Select Buttons to make sure the receiver is set to the right frequency  (See: Figure 2.1_Als Receiver_Top View)
    • The front display of the receiver will show what channel it is currently set to. 
  • The frequency can be found by looking at the upper left corner of the touch panel or by looking at the transmitter in the technology rack (See: Figure 3_Control Panel_ALS)
