20222023-2023 2024 Federal Direct Interest Rates have been set. Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans for law students first disbursed on or on or after July 1, 20222023, and before and before June 30, 20232024, will have a fixed interest rate of 67.54%05%. Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loans disbursed during that same time frame will have a 78.54% 05% interest rate. Interest rates that are fixed rates that are fixed rates will not change for the life of the loan.

Syracuse University Health Insurance Requirement: all full-time law students are required to have health insurance coverage for the academic year. If you will be a new or returning student, and you have your own health insurance coverage, you can find information on how to waive out of purchasing the University-sponsored plan in your MySlice.syr.edu account. .

Accepting/Reducing/Declining Loans:  You must accept your Federal Direct Unsubsidized loan to be able to use the funds for the academic year. Log-in to your MySlice account and select the button labeled Financial Aid and then the link to 2024. You will see the Accept/Decline panel and can accept your Unsubsidized loan. Any offered loans can also be reduced or declined with a student's written consent throughout the academic year. Students can make changes to Federal Unsubsidized loans through this panel prior to disbursement in . Subsequent changes must be requested through the Financial Aid section of the MySlice system or complete the Law Student Loan Cancellation/Reduction FormOffice.

Private educational loans are also an available financing resource for students to apply for and borrow , up to a student's remaining aid eligibility for the academic year and/or other periods period of enrollment. Citizens/Permanent Residents of the United States should select "Law Student" as the designated program; we suggest that international students select the "International" category (and/or review select products in the "Law Student" category if applying with a US-based co-signer).

For students enrolling in Summer term courses: If you plan to enroll in courses for the summer, you may be eligible for Federal Direct Student Loans. Students must be registered for at least four (4) credits pertaining to their degree(s). To begin the loan application process, log-in to MySlice and complete the Summer Financial Aid Application under your Financial Aid To Do items. Once your application is received, your loan eligibility will be calculated and you will be contacted with instructions.
