If you have requested that a Virtual Machine be created for your research computing needs, you will need a couple bits of information to access it:

  1. Your NetID and password
  2. Your VM's hostname (this should be given to you by your Technology Support representative)
  3. A Connection to SU's Network
    1. Are you on campus? If yes, good! You're ready to start connecting.
    2. Are you off-campus?
      1. If yes, are you using a campus-managed computer configured for DirectAccessDeviceTunnel? If yes, good! You're ready to start connecting.
      2. If no, you need a copy of the SU VPN installed on your computer.
        1. Download the SURA (the SU VPN tool) for Windows
        2. Download the SU VPN for Mac

If you're on campus, or are off-campus using a campus-managed laptop configured with DirectAccess, you can skip this step.

Windows

  • Download the SURA (the SU VPN tool) for Windows. Try to save it to your Desktop for easy access.
  • Double click to run the file you downloaded, and log in with your SU NetID credentials. When you're connected you should see a dialog that looks like this:
