Learning Objectives

After taking this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify and analyze through reading reflections the economic factors driving innovation and the impact on global labor markets. 

  • Identify, by reading jobs descriptions, the components of labor that uniquely human and then determine those that may be done solely by computers and those that can be done with computers. 

  • Assess through group debates the advantages and disadvantages of emerging work arrangements facilitated by information technologies 

  • Design and present to the class safeguards that could protect workers from the negative effects of technology at work 

  • Examine and assess educational or training alternatives that could help workers to be future proof.
